Today we tried haiku as we ate Halloween candy for dessert after dinner. Nika was really into counting syllables and one of the pieces here is completely her own words. Lina surprised us the other night by reciting most of our first poem by memory. This experiment seems to be paying off... now to the haiku!

Halloween candy
comes in handy,
when sugar is in short supply.

Vampire lady with purple teeth
climbs on mama's lap,
not too scary.

Twin girls eat rice
and stroganoff from a bowl,
eternally eating.

Flowers fall when it's snowing

When hungry for a sweet
people go trick or treat -
candy is lovely.
